What is instructional coaching and how to use it in your setting.

In this module, we will explore instructional coaching – an approach to teacher development that relies on small steps to incrementally improve performance in the classroom. The evidence base for instructional coaching will be set out, and different models will be presented. This will help define the conditions that need to be in place for instructional coaching to thrive, alongside outlining the benefits of the approach.

In the second session, more practical tips will be presented to put the process in place in a busy school. This will include the logistics of allocating coaches, alongside what to look for during observations and how to structure coaching conversations.

This module is appropriate for teachers and classroom practitioners at all phases and contexts but may be particularly useful for senior leaders with a responsibility for CPD and staff development within the school.
