Known to us as ‘Mushy’, Musharaf Asghar featured in Channel 4’s BAFTA nominated and EMMY Award winning documentary series Educating Yorkshire as a 16-year-old young man with a severe stammer.

In this module Mushy, now in his 20’s, shares his journey from his diagnosis and being told he would never be able to speak, to today – as a successful keynote speaker considering a future in teaching. In this heart-warming and inspirational session Mushy shares the significance of his GCSE English teacher. With Mr Burton’s support and Mushy’s own grit and determination, hear how a young man was able to defy the odds and succeed in finding his voice.

Mushy describes how education was, and still is, a fundamental reason for the success in his life and how teachers and key staff members are everyday heroes to so many young people.
