Exploring what the research says about what motivates pupils to follow or break rules in the secondary classroom.
About this module
In this session we will explore why people break the rules, considering how this relates to behaviour in the classroom. We will look at what the research says about methods for attempting to change rather than only to manage behaviour. We will think about how we can encourage learners to understand why it is important to behave well.
This module is suitable for teachers, early career teachers, ECT mentors, teaching assistants, learning support assistant and senior leaders supporting staff with behaviour.
What you will learn:- Consider why learners are motivated to break the rules
- Explore the evidence about how behaviour change happens
- Consider ways to encourage learners to make better choices around their behaviour
