About this module
This session looks at research into the importance of consistency in supporting behaviour for learning across the secondary school. It explores why consistency between staff is especially important in secondary schools and why this is important for learner outcomes. The session also examines the importance of meeting legal duties around ‘reasonable adjustments’ for students who have SEND.
“only a quarter of secondary … teachers agreed that the behaviour policy in their school was applied consistently by all staff. Only a third of all teachers said the headteacher provided support in managing behaviour. School leaders can support their teachers and middle leaders to achieve better consistency between the classrooms in their school, and any new strategies should aim towards this.” Improving Behaviour in Schools, EEF, Rhodes and Long (2021)
