About this module
Research indicates a strong link between children’s listening comprehension and their reading comprehension, therefore it is important to lay these foundations by developing language comprehension with young children. In this session, we will consider the importance of teaching and developing young children’s listening comprehension strategies alongside their word reading skills so that, as their independent access to texts increases, they are able to read for meaning.
This module is suitable for English Subject Leaders, Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants supporting pupils’ reading.
