About this module

There is a wealth of research into reading comprehension: what comprehension is, the impact of comprehension on reading for meaning, and effective teaching strategies for developing comprehension. In this session, we will consider this body of research to gain an understanding of the components of reading comprehension, how well-developed comprehension strategies lead to effective reading and, conversely, how underdeveloped strategies present barriers to pupils’ understanding.

This module is suitable for English Subject Leaders, Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants supporting pupils’ reading.
