About this module

This session examines the key strategies and techniques which enable teachers to communicate effectively with their learners. It explores the way in which tone, pace, volume and pitch combine to support understanding, identifying the impact that this has on learner behaviours more generally. The session also explores non-verbal techniques for teachers to adopt, in order to support behaviour for learning while minimising the potential for challenge and conflict from learners.

What you will learn:
  • Understanding key techniques for effective verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Identifying how clarity of framing around expectations supports learner understanding
  • Showing some of the key errors often made around communication, and how to reframe what is said
  • Demonstrating the impact of clarity of communication on building relationships
