Unpicking the elements of writing. A research based exploration of what is required of a writer to help inform the curriculum.

About this module

Writing is a multi-skilled, complex task with many elements competing for the writer’s attention. As teachers of writing, one of the most powerful things we can do for our pupils is to understand ourselves the knowledge and skills required of a writer so that we can develop these individually as well as teach pupils how to amalgamate them in the moment of writing.

This module is suitable for Primary Teachers, Secondary Teachers and English/Literacy Subject Leaders.

What you will learn:
  • Unpick the elements of writing
  • Explore research models for writing
  • Consider implications for the teaching of writing
