Your Voice Matters

About this module:

Our voice is unquestionably a critical tool in enhancing the learning experience of our pupils; knowing how to take care of it and use it effectively is essential. Research shows that an ineffective voice can produce disaffection amongst some pupils and consequently hinder not only their learning but the relationship with those pupils. Your Voice Matters raises awareness of how our voice impacts learners, exploring how the voice works and how best to use it in the classroom.

The module offers practical vocal warm-up exercises and explores clarity, tone, pitch and projection of the voice as well as ideas for maintaining a healthy voice for career longevity.

You will be invited to reflect and refine your own vocal delivery both in the intersessional activities and beyond the module.

This module is appropriate for all practitioners, whatever stage of your career and for anyone wanting to use their voice more effectively in their role.

Session One: Voice Essentials will explore:

• The impact the voice has on pupils.
• The sounds/tone of your own voice and the voice of others.
• How the voice works.

Session Two: Developing the voice for effective classroom practice will explore:

• Practical approaches to develop a resonated voice.
• Good pitch, tone, diction & projection through practical exercises.
• How to maintain a healthy voice for career longevity.
